Synopsis of CIG Press Briefing

1.              No positive results.

As at 22nd April, the number of positive cases of COVID-19 is SIXTY-SIX (66) and is broken down as follows:
Active – 58 (Symptomatic – 29; Asymptomatic – 19; In-patient – 5; Clinically recovered – 5)
Recovered – 7
Deceased – 1

2.              There will not be a press briefing tomorrow (23rd April) in the current format due to the meeting of the Legislative Assembly.
Three (3) local clinicians will make a clinical presentation on how COVID-19 is being managed in the country and how an increase in cases would be handled on their part.

3.              A quorum of the Members of the Legislative Assembly met today and approved an amendment to the Standing Orders that will allow the virtual/electronic meeting of the House. This has now been forwarded to the Governor for his assent.

4.              An Emergency Evacuation Charter to Miami has been scheduled for 1st May at 10:30am. Any persons wishing to travel on this flight, should contact Cayman Airways’ Reservation department directly on 949-2311. This department will be open for assistance from 9:00am – 6:00pm.
The fare for this ticket is CI$180.
A limited number of pets will be accepted on this flight and should be arranged with Cayman Airways.
This flight will not be bringing any persons in to the country from the United States.

5.              The “air-bridge” flight to the UK has been scheduled to depart on 29th April at 6:05pm (18:05).

If you need to travel with a pet to the UK, please contact the Governor’s Office at 244-2407 for assistance.

6.              Discussions are currently taking place with 4 – 5 governments from countries within the region to facilitate Emergency Evacuation Charters.
