Synopsis of CIG Press Briefing
1. No positive cases.
As of 17th June, the cumulative number of positive cases of COVID-19 is 193 and is broken down as follows:
Active – 60 (Symptomatic – 2; Asymptomatic – 58)
Recovered – 132
Deceased – 1

2. The Government will adjust its response to COVID-19 to Level 2 Suppression effective 21st June 2020. These changes will be applied in a phased approach with additional relaxations on restrictions every two (2) weeks ending on 2nd August 2020.
Effective 21st June:
· The nightly hard curfew will end at 4:30am 21st June.
· The alphabet system applied to surnames will no longer be applied.
· Persons will still need to adhere to social distancing requirements (6ft/2m) and wear masks indoors.
· Domestic helpers and caregivers can resume work.
· Gatherings in Grand Cayman can now be in groups of up to twenty-five (25) persons.
· Salons and barbershops are permitted to open but must strictly enforce the wearing of masks.
· All businesses can reopen, however the continuing of working from home is encouraged.
· Restaurants will be permitted to open during the hours as allowed in their respective licenses (liquor licence, business license, etc). There will also no longer be a limitation on persons per table but each table must be 8ft apart. Karaoke or dancing will not be permitted.
· Weddings will be allowed to host no more than 25 persons in addition to the bridegroom, bride, official witnesses, and marriage officer.
· Funerals will be allowed to have no more than 25 persons in attendance in addition to the 6 pall bearers, officiants, and essential funeral staff.
· Persons may exercise at any time and there will be no restriction on activities on the beaches.
· Scuba diving and snorkelling will be allowed as long as no equipment is rented to do so (except for tanks).
· Boating will be allowed for any purpose with up to 10 persons per boat. It will still be prohibited to use a boat to travel to Cayman Brac or Little Cayman or to anchor/congregate within ¾ mile of the restricted areas.
Effective 5th July:
· All education institutions, facilities, and programmes may recommence. This includes summer programmes, vacation bible schools, etc.
· Restaurants and bars will be permitted to offer indoor dining. Each table must be placed 6ft apart and persons should adhere to social distancing of (3ft/1m).
· Strata gyms and public gyms will be allowed to open.
· Persons will be allowed to travel to the Sister Islands (Cayman Brac and Little Cayman) without having to quarantine in a government facility. The passenger will need to notify the Medical Officer of Health (Dr. Williams-Rodrigues) and then be tested for COVID-19. If the result is negative, the passenger should be transported directly to the airport for their flight.
Effective 19th July:
· Restaurants and bars may allow karaoke and dancing for patrons.
· Nightclubs may reopen for business.
· Contact sports (e.g. rugby, etc) will be permitted
· No limitations for operating boats and all waters within the Cayman Islands open.
