COVID-19 in the Cayman Islands
Update – 21 April 2020
Synopsis of CIG Press Briefing

1.              No results to announce. The laboratory machines are undergoing scheduled maintenance and quality checks today.

As at 21st April, the number of positive cases of COVID-19 is SIXTY-SIX (66) and is broken down as follows:
Active – 58 (Symptomatic – 29; Asymptomatic – 19; In-patient – 5; Clinically recovered – 5)
Recovered – 7
Deceased – 1

2.              The screening and testing of front-line health care professionals or users have commenced with the following persons:
-       All current admissions to hospitals including all current in-patients
-       All staff including front-line healthcare staff
-       All persons presenting with respiratory symptoms
-       Any person experiencing possible COVID-19 related symptoms as determined by their doctor
-       All prison staff and inmates

3.              All persons that have registered with the Emergency Travel unit for the “air-bridge” flight to the UK, will be provided a website link to purchase their tickets.
The link will be published for the general public tomorrow.
Pets will be permitted to travel and information for this process will be provided.

4.              The amendment to the law relating to withdrawals from pension funds requires all pension providers to review an application within seven (7) days of receipt and up to forty-five (45) days to disburse the funds withdrawn.
These provisions will be in place and available until November 2020, unless extended.
