COVID-19 in the Cayman Islands
Update – 15 April 2020
Synopsis of CIG Press Briefing

1.              Six (6) POSITIVE cases.
-       Four (4) persons had direct contact to confirmed positive cases
-       Two (2) persons contracted through community transmission

As at 15th April, the number of positive cases of COVID-19 is SIXTY (60) and is broken down as follows:
Active – 53
Recovered – 6
Deceased – 1

2.              The Emergency Evacuation Charter flights have been confirmed for Miami and Nicaragua. There will be two flights TO Miami and one flight FROM Miami.
The incoming flight from Miami will be returning a maximum of 86 Caymanians from the United States.
There will be two flights to Canada in the following week with details to be released as soon as possible.
Discussions remain underway to facilitate evacuations to Honduras, Dominican Republic, and Jamaica.

3.              The Minister of Education, Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, provided a thorough update on the education plan for both public and private schools. This update included information related to the school year, learning resources, and private schools.
A full transcript of questions and answers presented by the Honourable Minister will be prepared and posted as soon as possible.
